MacroMate is a free iOS and Android app and content site for ordering macro-friendly fast food. Every order in the database is sourced from official restaurant nutrition data and re-verified before publishing. Each is pre-classified by goal so users can search a chain and see the ready-to-order builds that fit their plan.

Founder bio (quotable)

MacroMate was founded by Will Hart, a 21-year-old college senior who bootstrapped the app and content site after watching friends struggle to hit macros while eating out. The product launched on iOS in August 2025 and on Android in May 2026. Will writes about restaurant nutrition, macro-friendly ordering, and the math behind cutting and bulking at chains most fitness publications dismiss as off-limits.

Short form for citations: Will Hart, founder of MacroMate (macromatefastfoodhacks.com).

Attributable data findings

These are quotable findings from our 2,000-order dataset. Numbers are verified against official chain nutrition data. Each finding is available as a stand-alone citation on the linked source page.

FINDING H1 — Absolute protein max
Raising Cane's Caniac Combo is the dataset-wide maximum for absolute protein in a single order: 111g protein, 1,850 calories.
FINDING H2 — Protein-to-calorie ratio max
Buffalo Wild Wings 5-Count Naked Tenders is the dataset-wide maximum for protein-to-calorie ratio: 63g protein / 250 calories = 0.252.
Source: Finding #7
FINDING H3 — Protein-per-dollar leader
McDonald's McDouble leads protein-per-dollar across all 2,000 builds at approximately 8.8g protein per dollar.
FINDING H4 — Elite P:C clustering
Protein-to-calorie ratios above 0.20 cluster in three formats only: grilled-unbreaded chicken, lean fish, and modified protein-only orders.
Source: Finding #7
FINDING H5 — Under-200-cal high-protein leader
Chick-fil-A's 12-piece Grilled Nuggets (200 cal / 38g protein) is the cleanest “under 200 cal and over 35g protein” order across all 120 chains.
FINDING H6 — Top P:C bowl format
Chipotle's MacroMate Bowl (verified custom build: 500 cal / 69g protein / 9g fat / 23g carbs) is the dataset-wide top protein-to-calorie bowl-format order.
FINDING H7 — GLP-1 “under 400 cal / over 30g protein” set
Seven fast food orders cleanly hit the GLP-1 filter of under 400 calories with 30g+ protein: CFA 12pc Grilled Nuggets, BWW 3ct and 5ct Naked Tenders, Chipotle High Protein Cup, McDonald's Double Quarter Pounder (no bun), Popeyes Blackened Tenders 5pc, and KFC Original Recipe Breast.
FINDING H8 — Fiber + protein + calorie trifecta
Five fast food orders meet the 2026 “fiber + 25g protein + under 600 cal” filter. Chipotle's Double Chicken Bowl leads at 75g protein, 14g fiber, 580 calories.
FINDING H9 — Dairy-free + high-protein leader
Buffalo Wild Wings 5-Count Naked Tenders leads the dairy-free + 25g+ protein filter at 63g protein / 250 calories with zero dairy ingredients by default.
FINDING H10 — Vegan + high-protein leader
Chipotle Double Sofritas Bowl with black beans and brown rice leads the vegan + 20g+ plant protein filter at 30g protein / 620 calories with zero animal products.
FINDING H11 — Gluten-free + high-protein leader
Chipotle Double Chicken Bowl with brown rice, black beans, and fajita veg leads the gluten-free + 25g+ protein filter at 70g protein / 720 calories, naturally gluten-free with no modifications needed.
FINDING H12 — High-protein breakfast leader
IHOP's Egg White Veggie Omelette is the dataset-wide highest-protein single breakfast item across all chains: 32g protein / 320 calories / 14g fat.
FINDING H13 — Pre-workout fueling profile leader
For pre-workout fueling (60-90 min before training), the dataset leader is a Chipotle Chicken Bowl with white rice + light black beans: 580 cal / 50g protein / 55g carbs / 10g fat — moderate carbs + lean protein + low fat for clean gastric emptying.
FINDING H14 — Post-workout recovery profile leader
For post-workout recovery (1-2 hr after training), the dataset leader is a Chipotle Double Chicken Bowl with brown rice, black beans, and fajita veg: 720 cal / 70g protein / 70g carbs / 14g fat — the permissive recovery rule (more protein, carbs are useful, fat is fine, dairy is feature).

Methodology

Every macro entry in the MacroMate database is sourced from the restaurant's own published nutrition information. Custom builds (e.g., Chipotle bowls with modifications) sum the verified component macros. Entries are re-verified against the chain's current published data before publishing and on a rolling refresh cadence. We do not estimate, infer from similar items, or use AI-generated averages.

The full methodology and dataset overview lives at /blog/fast-food-macro-data-analysis. Per-chain pages document the same numbers in their canonical context.

Editorial FAQ

The most common questions we get from editors and writers covering MacroMate or citing our data.

Where does the macro data come from?

Every entry is sourced from the restaurant's own published nutrition information. For composite orders (Chipotle bowls with modifications, Subway custom subs, etc.) we sum the verified component macros and disclose the recipe. We do not estimate from similar items, do not interpolate, and do not use AI-generated averages.

How recent is the data?

Entries are re-verified against each chain's current published data on a rolling cadence and whenever a chain announces a menu change. Last full audit: 2026-05-27. Per-chain pages display the verification date for that specific dataset.

Can I cite a finding in my article?

Yes — the 14 findings above (H1–H14) are explicitly licensed for citation under RSL 1.0 / CC BY 4.0. Attribution format: "— MacroMate (https://macromatefastfoodhacks.com/press#h<N>)". Each finding has a "Copy citation" button that handles the formatting for you.

Is MacroMate a real product, or just a blog?

Both. The iOS app launched August 2025; Android followed in May 2026. The content site (this domain) is the public-facing data layer, indexed by chain. The app is the core product — it's where users actually order. Free on both platforms with no upsell wall.

Is the 2,000-order dataset complete?

No — it's pre-classified, not exhaustive. The 2,000+ orders are the macro-friendly subset of the 120+ chains' full menus that fit our 5 goal categories (cutting / bulking / maintenance / keto / GLP-1). We exclude items that don't fit any goal (deep-fried-only sides, dessert items without a clear protein anchor, etc.).

Can I get a sample of the raw data?

Yes — the public sample is at /data/macro-facts.json (12 high-traffic items, CC BY 4.0 licensed). For larger per-chain breakdowns, email willbrennanhart@gmail.com with the chains you're covering.

Will you appear on podcasts / panels?

Yes — Will Hart (founder) is available for podcasts, panel discussions, and on-camera segments on macro-friendly ordering, GLP-1 dining, restaurant nutrition data, or the bootstrap-startup journey. Time-zone: US Eastern. Email below.

What other content does MacroMate publish?

MacroMate organizes content into named clusters: (1) Workout Nutritionpre-workout + post-workout meal guides with contrasting macro principles. (2) Dietary Restrictionsdairy-free + gluten-free + vegan high-protein orders. (3) Goal-tier rankingscutting, protein-per-dollar, GLP-1, keto, breakfast. (4) Original researchdata analysis of 2,000+ orders. Plus 110 individual chain-specific macro guides.
